Children's Liturgy

Our church ‘Liturgy of the Word with Children' - Children's Liturgy  - refers to the practice of children leaving the Sunday assembly during the Liturgy of the Word at the 10:30am Sunday Mass at the Sacred Heart Church and gathering with adult leaders in the Presbytery to celebrate a separate Liturgy of the Word that is more appropriate to their level of understanding.

In Goudhurst we have a group of DBS-checked dedicated volunteers, members of our parish, who take it in turns to prepare liturgy sessions for our children. There are two age groups, often with differentiated content - year 2 and below and Year 3 - Year 6. Each of these groups have two leaders.  Older children and teenagers have the opportunity to assist in leading the Liturgy group alongside the adults.

During the session we follow the Order of Mass - with a sorry prayer, collect prayer, appropriate Sunday reading from the Gospel, discussion and a practical activity. We finish each session with a prayer and return to the church for Offertory.

We are always looking for new members for our friendly Liturgy team! If you would like to get involved, please get in touch with any of the leaders.

For details see the notice board at the back of the church or contact the parish office.

Visitors

Welcome to our parish! We hope you have an enjoyable stay, and that while you're with us you'll be able to attend Mass at one of our two churches.

On the weekend there is Mass at the Sacred Heart in Goudhurst on Saturday evening at 5:30pm, and on Sunday morning at 10:30. Mass is celebrated at St Barnabas in Hawkhurst at 8:30am on Sunday mornings. For locations and parking details see the Mass times page.

If you're here on the first Sunday of the month we'd love to meet you over tea or coffee after the Sunday masses.

Weekday masses are celebrated on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday - see the Mass times page for more details.

If you would like to speak to our priest in charge while visiting, please contact the Presbytery using the details on the Contact us page.
